With the Wii U bringing Nintendo into a whole new world of online gaming (a world without friend codes and lag, that is), Nintendo fans are wondering if the big N is going to take Microsoft’s position of charging a monthly fee for their online service or Sony’s position of offering online play for free. Well, according to Satoru Iwata, Nintendo had examined the possibility of a paid online service like Xbox LIVE, but they came to the conclusion that it’s not the right course of action. Iwata himself said that he feels a subscription fee would impede the potential grown of the platform.
