Nintendo’s New 3DS Launches Only in Japan / Australia This Year

As reported by VideoGamer on Wednesday, September 24, Nintendo UK has confirmed that its recently announced New 3DS family will release only in Japan and Australia this year, with additional confirmation that the new range of 3DS handhelds will be region-locked.

However, the flip side is that certain compatible regions will be able to import a New 3DS to their respective countries from where the new handheld originally releases.

According to VideoGamer, the regions have been split up between US, Japan and Europe / Australia, implying that UK and European players will be able to import a New 3DS from Australia when it launches on Friday, November 21 (which’ll also be fully compatible with UK game releases, too).

The new products are region locked; the situation will be exactly the same as for the current family of Nintendo 3DS systems, ” Nintendo UK confirmed to VideoGamer.

The New 3DS is said to be priced at $219.95 AUD / £118, with its counterpart, the New 3DS XL, being priced at $249.95 AUD / £135. Both models will feature an upgraded processor, a second analogue stick and additional buttons.

We’ll bring you more news on the New 3DS family should further information reach our ears.
