At the Nintendo pre-E3 presentation today, Nintendo finally gave us what we were all waiting for: a look at the new Smash Bros for both the 3DS and the Wii U. It appears as if both titles will be separate releases, with the 3DS version taking on a more cell-shaded look and the Wii U version being more graphically defined.
Gameplay footage looks about the same as before. Characters still rack up percentages and attempt to knock their opponents off the stage. Final Smashes still seem to be present, as the trailer shows Samus shooting a gigantic power beam across the stage, though she does not lose her armor like in Brawl. Mario now seems to be able to double jump from his coin jump punch while Pit has a quick take-off ability. Bowser also has Squirtle’s forward A in the air, and he appears to move quicker in general.
The trailer reveals two new characters. The first is the Villager from Animal Crossing. The Villager basically goes about his business as per normal and people who get in the way get hurt. He can chop down trees, drop pots, and dig holes to screw up the enemy.
The other character the trailer reveals is a certain Blue Bomber that everyone is very familiar with.
