An ad was published on IGN promoting Overwatch. I say “ was,” and not “has been,” because that ad has since been removed. Apparently it contained the release date for Activision Blizzard’s upcoming class-based shooter (no really, it’s not a MOBA), and thankfully someone snagged a screenshot before it was taken down, so now we get to pass the good news along to you folks. As far as we know, and according to that advertisement, Overwatch is set to release on May 24.
If you’re lucky, you may be playing Overwatch right now as part of a closed beta. The advertisement claims that “open beta early access” begins May 3, but that’s not completely true since you have to pre-order the game to participate. Usually when we hear “open beta,” we assume that it’s, you know, open. Either way, if you’re definitely on the Overwatch bandwagon now you know that with your pre-order, you just need to get through March and April and the wait will be over. That is, unless Activision Blizzard makes some kind of change. Remember, there’s been no formal or official announcement yet, so the release date is still subject to change.
