We already knew Pokken Tournament was going to come to consoles after its appearance in arcades. We also were made aware that Shadow Mewtwo would be a contender in the game. But, until the November 12 Nintendo Direct, we didn’t know he would be an unlockable character.
Don’t worry, though. You can take the easy way out when getting him in the game. Copies of Pokken Tournament will come with a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card. Scanning him in on the Wii U GamePad will unlock him instantly.
The catch is, only first-run copies of Pokken Tournament will include the Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card. It’s a limited edition item, which means you’ll have to grab the game immediately after it launches in spring 2016. Otherwise, you’ll have to unlock him the normal way.
Shadow Mewtwo is the first non- Animal Crossing amiibo card to be confirmed. It also means Nintendo could have Pokemon amiibo cards. Think about the ramifications for that for a second. Scary, huh?
