Publisher GungHo Looking To Beat Nintendo In Japan

GungHo, the makers of the exorbitantly popular mobile game Puzzle & Dragons , has seen a considerable revenue jump in recent months. The company’s sales predictions have been shattered nine-fold by their Q1 2013 success. It seems that their newfound financial strength has instilled a sense of ambition in the company’s top brass, as GungHo CEO Kazuki Morishita recently stated (in an interview with Bloomberg ) that he wants “to top Nintendo’s sales” before he retires.

Incidentally, the company has already done just that, albeit during a brief fluctuation. For approximately two days, GungHo’s market value exceeded that of Nintendo’s Kyoto operations. However, recent developments have shown that GungHo stock value is now in decline, following the diminishing returns of their mobile sales. However, the company’s position is still dynamic, and Nintendo may just have a new competitor for their home turf.
