Qriocity PS3 and PSP Bound

Qriocity PS3 and PSP Bound

None

Yesterday, there were rumors floating around that Sony would be unveiling a major iTunes competitor at the IFA 2010 press event in Berlin today. Unlike many rumors, this one held true, with Sony officially announcing their new cloud-based digital movie and music service, Qriocity (via 1Up).

While Qriocity’s video on demand service is currently available on most of Sony’s Bravia televisions and Blu-ray players, no announcement was made regarding whether it was coming to Sony’s game systems. However, the “Music Unlimited” portion of the service was announced to be coming to both the PS3 and PSP soon. Though many of the details regarding this service are still sketchy, it was described as giving users “access to a huge library of songs through the cloud” and letting them “discover new music through channels personalized to their tastes on multiple devices and without the requirement to manage digital music files.”
