On May 23, 2023, Wishfully Studios released their puzzle-platform game, Planet of Lana. The title is the debut project of indie developer Wishfully Studios. The game takes inspiration from cinematic platformers like Inside and Limbo. The director Adam Stjarnlijus wanted to develop a game with a colorful sci-fi aesthetic as opposed to the dark and gloomy backdrops found in his inspirations. The game received generally favorable reviews according to Metacritic, gaining an 80 across all platforms.
Planet of Lana Premise
In Planet of Lana, you play as Lana, a young girl exploring a planet alien machines have invaded. You must work together with a cat creature named Mui to solve puzzles and explore the world. Lana and Mui cannot directly attack enemies and must rely mostly on stealth to avoid encounters. The game is a puzzle platformer with a side-scrolling perspective.
Planet of Lana Main Characters
The game mostly follows three characters.
- Lana is a young girl and the player character in the game. Her best friend is a cat-like creature named Mui. She has an older sister named Ilo who was captured by evil robots.
- Mui is the cat-like best friend of the main character. They help the main character do several tasks throughout the game. They are discovered trapped in a cage by the robots.
- Ilo is Lana’s sister. She is kidnapped at the beginning of the game.
