While fans were happy to learn that Anna Paquin would be returning to her role as Rogue in the latest X-Men flick, many were sadden to find she had been cut from the theatrical release.
Fear not fellow mutants, as it now appears these scenes will be restored. The DVD and Blu-ray releases (due out on October 14 th ) are rumored to include an extended version of the film, now known as the “ Rogue Cut .” It’s believed this restored footage will revolve around both Rogue and Magneto (two “old friends” from the original X-Men of 1999) in a kind of mutant jailbreak.
In regards to these lost scenes, Writer/Producer Simon Kinberg said, “It’s a big chunk. A substantial part of the movie. We want to give fans the fullest picture of the film — behind the camera, and in front of it.”
At this time, it is uncertain how much of the original cast (including Rogue) will make it into the next X-Men movie Age of Apocalypse . We’ll keep you posted once we know more.
