RUMOR: New Assassin’s Creed Hitting Vita This Year

Alongside the official announcement of a full-fledged entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, rumors are now emerging that a new Vita entry in the series can be expected later this year.

Though, unlike Black Flag, this has not been confirmed by Ubisoft, VGLeaks, which correctly predicted the Assassin’s Creed IV reveal, claims to have confirmation that another AC title is also in the works. Though, they note the lack of a PlayStation 4 or next-gen Xbox version of Black Flag, which may indicate an entirely new entry in the series on next-gen hardware, they propose that we will instead see a new Vita entry.

It wouldn’t be unusual for Ubisoft to release such a game. Their handheld Assassin’s Creed titles have served as companions to their console counterparts, the Vita’s Assassin’s Creed: Liberation being the most recent, tying into Assassin’s Creed III. It also provided some of the best writing of last year, even if the game itself didn’t measure up. Does this mean we can expect a handheld extension of Assassin’s Creed IV? I wouldn’t rule it out.
