RUMOR: Parastie Eve II Coming To PSN

None

There is a gap in the Parasite Eve series on Sony consoles. The latest Parasite Eve game, The 3rd Birthday, came out on the PSP early this year. As part of the hype train for The 3rd Birthday, Sony released the original Parasite Eve as a PSOne Classic for PSN in February. So where the heck is Parasite Eve II?

Recently, listings for both PS3 and PSP versions of Parasite Eve II have been found on the ESRB’s website. What does that mean? Most likely we will be seeing a PSOne Classic release of the, uh, PSOne classic.

Last year’s Gamescom revealed that both Parasite Eve tiles were in line for PSOne Classics inclusion, but rights issues stood in the way of making it happen. Hajime Tabata, director of The 3rd Birthday, said Square Enix was “making adjustments” to make the re-release a possibility. You see, Parasite Eve II was a joint venture between Square and EA, and so EA held some of the rights to the game. This is what is commonly blamed for its release delay as a PSOne Classic. But now, everything seems to have been worked out and Parasite Eve II will be coming to the PSN before you know it. It’s been eleven years and the game is still a classic to this day.
