Lately, Sony has been fighting hackers in full force: first with threats of banning and then with legal action against high-profile hacker “GeoHot.” However, if the rumor mill is correct, Sony is taking the next step in its war on the hacking world, and will be quietly rolling out a new PlayStation SKU. Supposedly, this new SKU retains all of the PlayStation 3’s core features, but has new software and hardware that will make the console “hack-proof.”  If this rumor is indeed true, it would make sense for Sony to keep it as quiet as possible, as the hacking community might see this as a challenge and work to undermine it faster. Of course, this could also be a complete fabrication, as modification and console hacks often are an inevitable part of any console’s lifespan. |
