It looks like the horrible debacle that was the PSN and SOE outage is finally starting to wrap itself up. With the PSN store coming back online in a day or so, and SOE finally getting its stuff together, we can finally forget all about Anonymous and GeoHot and identity theft, and just enjoy the free stuff that Sony is tossing our way. For SOE customers that were locked out of their online games after the cyber-attack took servers offline, Sony is offering a refund on playing time. Password reset e-mails were sent out this weekend, which not only required users to verify their information, but also notified them that they would be receiving forty-five days of free playing time for any game they had activated before the servers dropped. ![]() Account holders have until August 31st to log in, certify that they were users before the servers went down, and claim their free time. Depending on which game you play, you will also receive prizes and special in-game items for your troubles as well. You can read the full list of games and their associated freebies below. Finally, Station Access subscribers will get 500 dollars in Station Cash in addition the above rewards. Add this on top of Sony’s free identity theft protection program, and you have a hell of a deal. Now let’s hope Sony doesn’t get hacked again anytime soon… |
