Sony Is Releasing New PS4 Firmware Soon, and You Can Test it

Change is in the air, and PS4 owners could be in for a pretty exciting update soon. Sony has been doing a little bit of poking and prodding in recent months, asking users what features they’d like to see included in future PS4 firmware updates. While we’re not exactly sure which of those features Sony has decided to work on, we do know that a big firmware update is coming in the near future. It’s going to be big enough that they actually want you to beta test it, come early March.

If you’d like to sign up to test out the new firmware you can do so here. Sony has made a few things very clear. First of all, they’re only taking on a limited number of beta testers, so you’re not guaranteed access to this trial. Also, if you get accepted and decide that the new firmware totally sucks, you can roll back to your previous version at any time, so there’s no risk. Finally, if you get accepted into the test program, the privacy agreement that you’re asked to read and agree to absolutely forbids your talking about the new firmware or any of the features anywhere, to anyone, unless that place is the official beta forum, and that someone is another beta tester. So if you’re looking to get a bunch of hits on your blog or YouTube channel by showing off a new firmware first-look, you do so at your own risk.
