Square-Enix Filing Lawsuit Against SNK

Square-Enix Filing Lawsuit Against SNK

Back in August, SNK, the creators of King of Fighters , had filed a lawsuit against Square-Enix accusing the company of using SNK characters without permission. The characters in question were used in High Score Girl , a manga about arcade gaming which features several video game cameos.

In response, Square-Enix has counter-sued SNK. “Getting accused of the criminal complaint, the Company has decided to bring the said lawsuit to seek a declaratory judgment that the Company does not infringe the Defendant’s copyright,” a statement from Square Enix reads. “The Company will prove the point through civil procedures.”

The statement adds, “The Company has been cooperating fully with police investigations since the domiciliary search, and will continuously maintain the cooperative stance with good faith.”
