X-Wing Alliance is a space simulation game in the massive Star Wars Universe. Tied to Star Wars: TIE Fighter and Star Wars: X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, this game follows a family of space traders known as the Azzameen family. The game was released in 1999 for Windows systems and rereleased on Steam and GOG.com in 2015. Fans of the Star Wars Extended Universe enjoyed this game on release and today the game sits at 8.5/10 on Metacritic. The game was also a nominee for many awards including the Academy of Interactive Arts Sciences’ Computer Simulation Game Of The Year award. Unfortunately, the game lost to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000.
The Premise Of X-Wing Alliance
The game’s story follows Ace Azzameen, the youngest member of the Azzameen family. His elder family members instruct him in his flying so that he can begin working for the family. The game has over 50 missions spread out across 7 battles. You’re able to fly multiple crewcraft like the Millennium Falcon. The player could freely choose to be the pilot or operate one of the turrets. The AI would take over any position not controlled by the player but could be given orders by the player.
The Main Characters Of X-Wing Alliance
- Ace Azzameen – the player character and the youngest of the Azzameen children.
- Emon Azzameen – the quick-tempered son of Tomaas Azzameen and the middle brother of the Azzameen siblings.
- Antan Azzameen – the brother of Tomaas Azzameen and co-founder of the shipping business Twin Suns Transport Services during the Galactic Civil War.
- Kupalo – a Human male Rebel tactical officer who was captured during the Battle of Hoth and brainwashed into becoming an Imperial double agent.
- Garreth Holtz – a male Human Admiral who served in the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War.
- Zaletta – a Human male who served as a high-ranking commander in the Imperial Military until he later defected to the Rebel Alliance, attaining his rank during the Galactic Civil War.
- Olin Garn – Olin was an experienced freighter pilot and freelance bounty hunter.
- Aeron Azzameen – The lone daughter and next-to-last child of Tomaas Azzameen.
- Tomaas Azzameen – a Human male who was the brother of Antan Azzameen, the father of Galin, Emon, Aeron, and Ace Azzameen, and the head of the Azzameen family.
- Dunari – a Human male entrepreneur who was an old friend of Tomaas Azzameen and the founder and owner of Dunari’s Rest Casino during the Galactic Civil War.
- Galin Azzameen – a Human male who was the oldest son of Tomaas Azzameen and joined the Rebellion during the Galactic Civil War.
- Jake Farrell – a male human who served in the Galactic Empire as a flight instructor until he retired, and eventually joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
- Green Leader – an X-wing fighter pilot who served in the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War.

Hack Flyable Ships
In the X-Wing Alliance File under Lucasarts, find the text file ”SHIPLIST” and change ”Non-flyable” on any capital or unflyable ship to ”Flyable”. This will allow you to fly any ship, even the Super Star Destroyer, in the Combat Simulator.
Get All Missions And Medals
- Create a new pilot called FongFong.
- Start the game up, and then exit from the game.
- Go to the game directory which is typically C:\Program Files\LucasArts\XWingAlliance
- And find the file
- FongFong0.plt
- Delete it.
- Start the game again, this time all the missions will be unlocked from the game, and playable in the simulator, as well as all the cutscenes made available, AND all the awards will be in your character’s room in the game.
Cheat Mode
Press ESC before you begin a mission. Then look in the Options menu for these cheats: Tour Invulnerable or Unlimited Ammo. Enable them to cheat.
Hidden Picture
After playing a combat simulator skirmish or combat engagement, a screen will
appear with your score and those of any other players. At this screen, press
[Shift] + [Ctrl] + [Alt] to view a hidden screen.
