Suda 51 To Bring No More Heroes To Mobile Platforms

None

DeNA’s Mobage is a very popular mobile gaming platform in Japan. Just last week, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune revealed an upcoming project he’s working on, the Mobage-powered JJ Rockets. From a press conference earlier today, Shadows of the Damned designer Goichi Suda, better known by his Suda 51 handle, unveiled a mobile installment in his popular No More Heroes series.

The spin-off is expected to become available by the end of the year. No details regarding the game’s story or if it will follow longtime protagonist Travis Touchdown were revealed at the conference, but the series’ cel-shaded art style and hyperviolent combat should translate well to the mobile platform. While discussing the upcoming game, Suda 51 added, “We’re aiming to make it the social game with the most blood.” Considering the over-the-top gore that is pretty much expected of the No More Heroes series at this point, that shouldn’t be too difficult.

Despite being initially released on the Japan-exclusive Mobage platform, Suda expressed interest in creating a game that would appeal to Western audiences. This is good news for fans outside of Japan who would like some stylish, bloody gaming on the go.

Suda 51 and Inafune join a growing group of Japanese designers who are expanding their efforts to the mobile gaming industry, including Yuji Naka’s (Sonic) untitled adventure game and Yoshifumi Hashimoto’s Harvest Moon game.
