Summer Games Done Quick 2017 Raises Over $1.7 Million

Summer Games Done Quick 2017 Raises Over $1.7 Million

Games Done Quick, a popular charity event featuring live streaming of video game speedruns, just wrapped up its annual summer event, Summer Games Done Quick. The donation total at the end of the show broke last summer’s numbers, ending up at over $1,760,400 raised. This was also the highest total to-date for the event.

The core event, Awesome Games Done Quick, also smashed records this January to the tune of over two million dollars. That was a huge recovery from what was a pretty big drop last year, which many attributed to missing support from Humble Bundle. That distributor pulls in additional donations on the side.

This year’s Summer Games Done Quick was all about Doctors Without Borders, which is an international humanitarian organization that is non-governmental and based on providing aid to developing countries and war-torn areas in dire need of medical resources. Alternatively, Awesome Games Done Quick is generally affiliated with the Prevent Cancer Foundation. 30,083 donations were made by 22,053 people who were watching the 139 SGDQ 2017 runs.

Archives from Summer Games Done Quick 2017 and other previous events can be found on the organization’s YouTube channel . There were some amazing speedruns this year, so go catch up!
