System Shock Remastered’s Been Delayed

System Shock Remastered’s Been Delayed

Here’s the thing about Kickstarter games. You never know if they’re going to come out when developers say they are, because they’re not like AAA projects (not that AAA projects are immune to delays, either). They’re smaller scale and often involve extenuating circumstances. So, you shouldn’t be too surprised System Shock Remastered has been delayed. Night Dive Studios has moved the release date from December 2017 to Q2 2018. This also means the idea of a simultaneous release on all platforms isn’t guaranteed.

On the plus side, it seems like a demo could be coming closer. In the System Shock Remastered Kickstarter update, a “vertical slice” demo was mentioned. It’ll let people sample the game and see how it works, while also hopefully helping people understand why the game is taking as long as it is.

It’s just a shame there isn’t a more narrow release window. We’re going from December 2017 to Q2 2018. That means going from 12 months to 16-18 instead. Maybe even more, with things going the way they do. Here’s hoping System Shock Remastered arrives sooner, rather than later.
