What would Smash Bros. be without items that everybody inevitably ends up turning off? In a recent posting on Miiverse, Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that the Home Run bat will once again be returning to the fight. This item basically guarantees a knockout if you manage to smash with it. Sakurai included a picture of Donkey Kong’s eyes bulging out with blue and black lightning crackling around him. Of course, the Home Run bat’s smashes are some of the slowest in the game, so be careful.
The bat itself has gotten a bit of a makeover. It’s now black with a yellow etching on it. It’s handle is weaved like a Katana hilt and there is actually a golden guard at the base. OK, we know that this is supposed to be a baseball bat, but this is the most regal bat we have ever seen.
This likely means that other items will also be coming back to the game. Be on the lookout for things like the Beam Sword, Super Mushroom, and of course, those dreaded bombs, to be revealed in the near future.
