Good news everyone! The Last Guardian , that wonderful story from Team Ico about a boy and his Gryphon, is coming out after all! Sony said today in a press release, that the game will see the light of day on the PlayStation 4 in early 2015.
The Last Guardian will be distributed a bit differently than previous Team Ico games. First of all, the game will be digital distribution only. So you better have a big harddrive in order to download it. Second of all, the game will actually be episodic in nature. It will be split up into separate chapters, each of which has to be purchased and downloaded individually. Imagine Shadow of the Colossus with each separate Colossus standing alone as its own chapter. In between chapters you will still be able to wander around the game’s world, you simply won’t be able to progress. Sony suspects that chapters will be spread out over the course of a year, but has not yet given a concrete answer on how many chapters there will be or what they will be priced at.
