The PC Version of The Witcher 3 Will Be DRM Free on GOG.com

The PC Version of The Witcher 3 Will Be DRM Free on GOG.com

Yesterday, CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwinski confirmed that the PC Version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be DRM-Free when it launches next year. This news was courtesy of an open letter that Marcin wrote to the Witcher fans over on the game’s official blog .

Marcin added that the studio has had DRM restrictions in their previously released games and learned enough about the process not to try it again. He also admitted that while the game will be DRM-free on GOG.com, they will also be making it readily available to Steam customers. Anyone who uses Steam regularly knows already that it is a DRM platform. Taking this information into account, Marcin strongly suggested that fans should choose GOG over Steam when it comes to buying The Witcher 3.

DRM issues have been ongoing for quite awhile in this industry. Ubisoft’s PC games are usually the main culprits that people seem to complain about the most. CD Projekt Red’s stance to go against the norm is just another reason why the guys there have a strong and loyal fanbase today.

Will any of you be supporting the studio by picking up The Witcher 3 on GOG.com? Feel free to let us know your thoughts on this topic in the comments section below.
