Take San Andreas , The Rock-versus-an-earthquake summer flick from this year, and add giant monsters. That’s what we’re in store for when 2017 rolls around. New Line has finally signed The Rock to star in the adaptaion of Midway’s arcade classic – a deal in the works allegedly since 2011. Factor this alongside his role in the Big Trouble remake and his continued appearances in the Furious franchise, and it looks like the next few years are going to be very busy for The Rock.
Details this early on are naturally scarce, but there are a few obvious questions, such as what is The Rock’s role in the film (given that humans transform into the giant monsters in the game, it’s possible he may play one of them, and not just a human hunting them down)? Can this actually turn out to be a decent video game adaptation (most likely not, but fingers crossed)? And, most importantly, will the monsters eat humans to regain health?
