THQ and Codemasters Form An Alliance

THQ and Codemasters Form An Alliance

None

Though THQ is primarily known for developing and publishing their own games, this gaming giant is looking to expand its horizons. THQ has announced that it will be taking over distribution duties for four Codemasters-developed titles: DiRT 3, Operation Flashpoint: Red River, Bodycount, and F1 2011. This is certainly a boon for both companies: Codemasters needs a reliable distributor and THQ needs to expand its brand if it wants to run alongside Activision and EA as a powerhouse company (which certainly seems to be the plan).

Although THQ is handling all distribution and logistics involving these titles, Codemasters has said that all marketing for the game will still be handled in-house. All four of these games are set to come out this year—in fact, DiRT 3 is available right now—but I’m sure if these releases end up being profitable for both companies we’ll see a lot more teaming up in the future. And who knows, maybe THQ will become the next evil giant corporation we all love to hate.
