Transforming Into And Rolling Out A Beta

Transforming Into And Rolling Out A Beta

None

Transformers, formerly a mere toy fad and kitschy cartoon-length advertisement for said toys, has exploded in popularity in recent years. New series found their way onto Cartoon Network and, in the wake of three live action movies, Michael Bay’s name has become synonymous with “Robots in Disguise.” There have been games based on each of these movies, of varying quality, and even some unique stuff that has explored its own continuity. Now, we bring you word of Transformers Universe—its beta, to be specific.

Though scheduled for release in 2012, executive producer Kris Jones has stated that the beta will begin “soon.” With launch, at most, a year and a half away, it’s likely that “soon” means “before the end of the year.”

Jones has also offered details on the game’s aesthetic, which he states is attempting to avoid locking itself to one universe, such as the toy line or the movies. The name “Universe” is meant to indicate that this Jagex-produced title will draw from whatever continuity it feels like, to best serve the game.
