Ubisoft Nixes Uplay Passport

Ubisoft Nixes Uplay Passport

None

Having discovered yesterday that a printing error had led to a great number of unusable Uplay Passports included in new copies of Driver: San Francisco, the publisher has since pulled the Uplay Passort requirement from the game. Purchasers of Driver: San Fansisco are urged to either purchase the passport through the marketplace (which is now available at no charge) or to activate their two-day trial period, which has now been extended indefinitely.

Those who go the free trial route will find that their trial has 999 hours remaining, a number that does not decrease with time and, while it might be frustrating to have to tell the game “no, I don’t want to activate my Uplay Passport” every time it boots up, it certainly beats the alternative of having multiplayer locked away from paying customers.

Of note: do not throw out your Uplay Passport just yet. Though the code cannot be redeemed in the marketplace, it can still be activated over Ubisoft’s Uplay service, which won’t activate Driver’s online component, but will unlock some cars and other in-game goodies.
