Update: Sony Does Allow Multiple Accounts Per Vita

None

On Tuesday, we reported that Sony’s Vita would allow for only one PSN account to be logged in per system . If one wishes to change accounts, they will have to restore the device’s factory settings. While this is mostly true, Sony’s Crystal MacKenzie has come forth and offered some clarification.

“Your PSN ID is bonded to your memory card and your memory card is bonded to your Vita,” she says, allowing for one to switch out memory cards to change accounts on a given system.

Given the price of the cards, however, this might be financially prohibitive. More importantly, it locks multiple memory cards on multiple accounts to a single device, not allowing these accounts to move between systems, which seems to defeat the primary purpose of allowing multiple accounts on the same device.

At this point, the profile system they have in place only truly makes sense for those who have a household that will be sharing a single handheld among multiple players. This way, Jimmy and Billy can each have their own memory card with its own profile and games while mom and dad schedule the boys’ time with the system itself (or allow the boys to fight for it).

It almost feels like a hardware version of digital rights management. HRM?
