Valve Job Postings Hint At New Hardware

None

Rumors have been flying around about a possible Valve console for some time now. While Valve has recently said that they are a long way away from shipping any such console, recent job postings on their site would imply that they are hard at work on t least something having to do with hardware. They are currently looking for an electronic engineer to join their hardware team.

According to the job posting, “For years, Valve has been all about writing software that provides great gameplay experiences. Now we’re developing hardware to enhance those experiences.”

Valve is also looking for a firmware coder as well. The coder will be in charge of writing firmware for input and output devices to “let players interact with their games in ways they’ve never experienced before.” They are also looking for a psychologist, of all things, who will “provide relevant insight into human behavior in order to shape gameplay and customer experience.”

This is good news for two reasons. First, it pretty much confirms that Valve is working on some big new piece of hardware, and we can only hope that they will have an announcement ready for E3. Secondly, these jobs sound like awesome opportunities for anyone with the needed experience, and we all know how difficult the job market is these days.
