Vita Announcements Incoming

None

Next Friday, March 9, Sony will be holding a Vita-centric web broadcast. In addition to details on upcoming Vita services and already released titles, the broadcast promises to feature the announcements of many as-of-yet unknown games for the new handheld device, as well as more information on games that already have been announced.

To those ends, some of the games’ developers will be on hand for presentations about their titles. Though this is a Japanese broadcast (its official title, “Welcome! PlayStation Vita Game Heaven,” sort of gives it away), at least some of its information will prove pertinent to Western gamers, though they probably won’t have a chance to win one of the 20 3G Vitas Sony is giving away to lucky viewers.

This sort of public unveiling, made possible by the Internet, has become a hallmark of Nintendo’s operations, and now Sony appears to be dipping its feet in as well. Microsoft has offered similar videos on the Xbox 360 for a few years now, as well, bringing the gaming community in closer communion with the developers who make it all possible. It’s a trend I’d like to see continue.
