Watch Dogs Lead Designer Leaves Ubisoft

Watch Dogs Lead Designer Leaves Ubisoft

Jamie Keen, the lead game designer on Farcry 3 and Watch Dogs, has left Ubisoft and gone to EA Gothenburg to serve as a Gameplay Producer with Ghost Games. His LinkedIn profile indicates that he left Ubisoft in February of 2012, though it seems likely that this is a typo, as Farcry 3 was not released until the end of 2012 and Watch Dogs is still in the works.

This is far from Jamie’s first time working at Electronic Arts, having first served in production roles for various divisions within the mega-publisher from 2001 until 2010, his oeuvre including huge titles such as Battlefield 1942 and Crysis as well as smaller productions like Syndicate. Interestingly, his work at Ubisoft was his first time in a designer role, instead of in production.

Regarding his departure, Ubisoft has been unable to comment, and so the reasons for his return to EA remain a mystery. This isn’t the first time a major force behind one of Ubisoft’s big titles has parted ways. Patrice Desilets departed prior to the release of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
