Xbox 360 Edging Out Wii In Console War

Xbox 360 Edging Out Wii In Console War

According to a new report by DFC Intelligence, the Xbox 360 will likely win the console war this generation, at least in the US. Why? Because Nintendo has already transitioned to the Wii U.

This, supposedly, will slow the momentum of the Wii, especially considering new games for the Wii are basically no longer being made. As a result, Microsoft’s ongoing support for the Xbox 360 will keep Xbox 360 sales strong, right up until the launch of its newest console. In addition, the report indicates that the PS3 is losing by a significant margin. According to the report, the Xbox 360 will have sold 46.1 million units by 2017. The Wii will have sold 42.1 million units, and the PS3 will have sold 33.5 million units.

Obviously this doesn’t jive with the worldwide numbers, because those indicate that the PS3 has shipped more consoles than the Xbox 360. So, it’s obviously a complicated issue.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see how things shake out.
