In a recent presentation, Nintendo revealed that Xenoblade Chronicles X will indeed have multiplayer components. Up to four players can complete quests at once, and up to 32 players will be able to exchange information and trade items.
Make no mistake, however, the game is not an MMO, or even a dungeon crawler like Diablo . It’s still a traditional JRPG, complete with plot, fleshed out characters, and large worlds. Some of the only JRPGs to include multiplayer alongside an established plot were the Tales and Star Ocean series, and those were local multiplayer only. This can arguably looked at as the first non-MMO online JRPG since Phantasy Star Online .
