As detailed in a press release published on Tuesday, October 7, Major League Gaming (MLG) has announced that it’ll be hosting the first open eSports tournament for the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , along with the first season of the MLG Pro League for the game.
The tournament itself will be aired exclusively on MLG.TV from Friday, November 28 through to Sunday, November 30, and the launch for the first season of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare MLG Pro League will be occuring sometime in December.
“Call of Duty eSports has become a mainstream phenomenon– there’s nothing else like it, ” said MLG CEO Sundance DiGiovanni in the press release. “ With the introduction of Advanced Warfare , we are positioned for continued growth showcasing the best players in the world on MLG’s premier platform for a global audience of passionate eSports fans. This is just the beginning. ”
From OpTic Gaming to Team EnVyUs, 140 of the best Call of Duty teams in the world will compete at the debut MLG 25K Open Series Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Tournament , which will be taking place at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, Ohio, and it’ll begin at 6pm Eastern Time.
VIP ($100) and spectator passes ($25) will be available to purchase via the MLG Online Store for you to experience the tournament in person. Alternatively, you could also watch the tournament live via MLG.TV.
128 teams in an open bracket and 12 teams starting in pool play will be what to expect from the tournament, as teams compete against one another to win a share of $25,000 in prizes, 25,000 MLG Pro Points and the last four spots in the upcoming Season One of the MLG Pro League. Details of the first season of the MLG Pro League are said to be released soon.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is slated to launch for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Tuesday, November 4. We’ll bring you more news on the game should further information reach our ears.
