Bioshock Infinite Team Cut Enough Content To Make Five Or Six Games

Bioshock Infinite has just gone gold, which means no more delays! We will finally be able to zipline through floating cities and experience that terrifying songbird.

Even though the game was delayed time and again, the development team still wasn’t able to put everything they wanted into the game. Design Director Bill Gardner said that the team cut enough content from BioShock Infinite to create “five or six games.”

Five or six full length games! Holy crap.

I’m sure there is some hyperbole at work there, but it’s still incredible. Let’s hope that Irrational ends up repackaging some of that content for further BioShock sequels. For example, Gardner revealed that the original concept for BioShock Infinite was to set the game during the renaissance. However, that plan was scrapped due to a desire to stay out of competition with Assassin’s Creed II. Now that Assassin’s Creed has moved on to the Revolutionary War, it might be nice to see BioShock head back to the time of DaVinci.

“I mean, it pains you when you’re talking about cutting one of your babies, but ultimately, you’ve got to look at the final piece,” Gardner said.

Bioshock Infinite is planned to release on March 26 th for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
