Blue Dragon Is Becoming Backward Compatible

Blue Dragon Is Becoming Backward Compatible

Microsoft has been pretty good about making the Xbox One backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games. It’s happening gradually, but regularly. Unfortunately, we don’t often get to know ahead of time what’s coming. Except when it comes to Blue Dragon . We definitely know Blue Dragon , a JRPG with art by Dragon Ball’ s Akira Toriyama, is going to be a backward compatible game.

How? Microsoft’s Phil Spencer spilled the news via Twitter . A fan asked if Blue Dragon would ever become backwards compatible. Spencer said, “I’m not allowed to say, but yes.” Which is a pretty clear and definite answer. Unfortunately, it doesn’t give an exact date. It might not be too long, though. Microsoft recently made it possible for multi-disc games to be backwards compatible, and Blue Dragon is a three-disc game.

In case you missed it the first time around, Blue Dragon is a game where a group heroes attempts to take down Nene, a villainous ruler who makes use of machines to keep people in check. The heroes swallow spheres that give their shadows physical forms and extraordinary power. It proved quite popular in its time, spawning an anime, manga, and two follow-up games on the DS.
