In a developer interview on Capcom Japan’s Investor Relations website, as picked up by IGN, Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s managing corporate officer, clearly stated why the Xbox 360 has been the company’s core business vehicle. Inafune stated that “the company’s initial push into Xbox 360 titles was a direct result of Capcom’s attempts to expand into the North American and European markets.” What’s more, he directly attributes the company’s recent successes to the 360. “I think I can get away with saying this now, but I really thought that using the Xbox was the only way to break into overseas markets, and I took that hypothesis all the way,” Inafune said. Look for a string of timed exclusives from Capcom in the future, at least until the PS3 can finally find its rhythm worldwide. |
