Company Of Heroes 2 Is Now Official

None

Last week, we reported on a rumor about Relic Entertainment producing a new game in the Company of Heroes line . Today, that rumor has become official.

According to a press release by THQ, Company of Heroes 2 is officially under development and will release to U.S. audiences sometime in early 2013. The game will be set in Russia and other territories on the Eastern Front. Players will be put in control of the Red Army and will be tasked with repelling Nazi invaders and taking on a variety of other military missions.

The game will run on Relic’s proprietary Essence 3.0 engine, which will “bring new technological advancements to the strategy genre in the form of innovative Dynamic Battle Tactics, increased graphical fidelity and new environmental destruction.” The game will also feature new protagonists, a new story, and several new improvements to multiplayer.

Now that we know the game is under development, we can probably expect the game to make some sort of showing at this year’s E3. Several screenshots have been revealed along with the press release, which might be a hint that the game already has some sort of playable build ready, though this has not yet been confirmed.
