Though the PlayStation Network outage was initially blamed on a server issue, we now know that the PSN was actually brought down by Sony in order to stop an “external intrusion” into the network. Unfortunately, the aim of this intrusion was probably to steal personal and credit card information, and while Sony is fully investigating the matter, they still don’t know whether any of their users’ private information was breached.  As for the network itself, Sony has not made any statements about when it will be going back online, and has not revealed any compensation plans for disgruntled users. |
