The PlayStation Network Is Down For Some Users… Again

Sony is going through some rough times. The PlayStation Network went down over Christmas due to a supposed DDOS attack, and this could have seriously impacted Sony performance during the holidays. For a while it seemed like these network woes had been fixed, but now it appears as if users are reporting connection drops. Others are reporting that they cannot even connect to the PSN in the first place. This means that online play in certain games just does not work, though oddly enough the PlayStation Store seems to work just fine.

Sony has responded on the official PlayStation twitter saying “We are aware that some players are seeing drops on PSN. Engineers are on the case and investigating.” The official PlayStation Support Site says that the network is experiencing “Heavy Network Traffic” which may point to another DDOS attack, though it does note that the PSN is online.

The network, however, is not down for everyone. It’s worth it to check whether or not it’s working on your console. We will bring you more information on this odd PSN outage when it becomes available.
