The commercial performance of the first MMO entry to the popular role-playing game series, however, falls below other installments in the franchise (via Andriasang).

Comparatively, Dragon Quest IX sold an accumulative of 2,353,440 in its first week of launch, with Dragon Quest VIII selling 2,237,000 copies in the same time frame.

Meanwhile, while the Wii enjoyed a sales boost in Japan with 41,561 units sold, Nintendo’s 3DS sold a healthy 118,786 units.
