E3 2016: New God of War Details Uncovered

E3 2016: New God of War Details Uncovered

If you missed the new God of War trailer that debuted during the Sony E3 conference, then you missed what will be one of the most talked-about moments of this year’s E3. Kratos sent the crowd into a frenzy when he emerged from the shadows of a small hut – addressing his son , no less. We have so many questions, but Santa Monica Studio didn’t waste any time with exposition. We dove straight into some intense exploration and combat gameplay. While what we saw was stunning, it did bring up some burning questions.

So much of the gameplay video focused on not only Kratos, but on his son as they navigated the wilderness. Naturally we were left wondering two things: Is this going to be an open-world game? Are we going to play as Kratos as well as his son? Thankfully Geoff Keighley was wondering the exact same thing, and we were able to clear some of this up in a post-show interview with Santa Monica representatives. According to them, Kratos is the main character in the new God of War , and we’ll be controlling him throughout the entire game. The game world, founded in the tradition of Norse mythology, will not be an open world per se; it’s large, but players will have linear paths to follow as in previous God of War games. Finally, don’t hold your breath for a 2016 release. The demo looked extremely polished, but when pressed for a release window all we got in response was “soon.”
