F29 Retaliator is a combat flight simulator game that was first released in 1989. It was developed by Digital Image Design, known for its combat flight sims. The game was published by Ocean Software, one of the biggest European game publishers in the ’90s. F29 Retaliator is on many computers like the Amiga, Atari ST, DOS, FM Towns, and NEC PC-9801. The game is even available on Steam.
F29 Retaliator received generally positive reviews and was described as a solid gaming experience. But the game was outshined by other combat sims of the early ’90s.
F29 Retaliator Premise
This military combat game has four different war scenarios. Players can have desert training in Arizona, handle conflicts in the Pacific and the Middle East, and fight in Europe during World War III. Each of these scenarios has multiple missions that tally up to a total of 99. Whichever mission players save for last will impact what ending they get.
Players can fly either an F22 or F29 plane. They also have the choice to use different weapons such as the AIM-9 Sidewinder, cluster bombs, and Tomahawk cruise missiles.
