Though Shenmue fans had all but given up hope of ever seeing a sequel to one of the biggest cult-hits of all time, series creator Yu Suzuki made some cryptic comments at his GDC panel earlier today, saying, “I think Sega will let me make it,” in regards to the embattled sequel.  Of course, as soon as the room erupted in cheers, Suzuki backpedaled somewhat saying that Shenmue III would take a lot of funding, and he’s not sure if SEGA would put up the money if there isn’t a proven market for the game. So take heart, Shenmue fans. Suzuki is willing and able, so it’s just a matter of convincing SEGA that there are legions of Shenmue fans out there. Maybe we should start a letter-writing campaign? |
