GP Rider Cheats & Cheat Codes for Arcade, Master System, Game Gear, and More

GP Rider Cheats & Cheat Codes for Arcade, Master System, Game Gear, and More

GP Rider is a motorcycle racing game originally released for arcades in Japan, North America, and Europe. The game was developed by AM2, a team within Sega that focused on arcade gamesGP Rider was popular enough to have multiple ports to home console systems like the Master System in 1993 and then Game Gear in 1994.

Although the Game Gear port was labeled GP Rider, it’s actuality a rebranded port of a different game called Super Hang-On. After GP Rider’s original release on August 7, 1990, it became one of the most popular arcade games in Japan. Critics praised the game for its realistic motorcycle simulation and impressive graphics.

GP Rider Premise

The arcade version of GP Rider is an upright cabinet controlled by two motorcycle controllers. As players ride the motorcycles, the controllers move and rumble, mimicking a real motorcycle ride. This creates an impressive gaming experience. The home console ports of GP Rider are controlled by standard game controllers.

GP Rider Main Character

GP Rider is intended to be a two-player competitive game with a split screen. It was one of the first motorcycle games to let you race against against another person. These head-to-head high-speed races are the reason why GP Rider was so popular.

Even if only one person is playing the game, it still appears in split-screen mode. One side is controlled by the player, while the other is controlled by a CPU named Wayne. He is likely a reference to Wayne Rainey, a world-famous motorcycle racer. The Wayne CPU’s performance will vary from race to race, keeping the gameplay thrilling even in single-player mode.

GP Rider Series

Sadly, there are no direct sequels or prequels to GP Rider, making it a stand-alone game. GP Rider is far from the only racing game made by Sega AM2. This team created other arcade simulators like Super Hang-OnOut Run, Power Drift, and more. Through the entirety of the ’90s and the early 2000s, Sega was the king of arcade games. Here is a list of every game developed by Sega AM2 specifically.

GP Rider Cheat Codes

Unfortunately, GP Rider is one of those rare games from the ’90s that doesn’t have any in-game cheat codes. It makes sense that GP Rider wouldn’t have any cheat codes since it’s a very simple racing game that focuses on head-to-head races. Most cheat codes give players unfair advantages that ruin the competitive spirit.

Luckily, there is still a way to include cheat codes in GP Rider. For players that own Game Genies or Action Replays, there are a couple of codes for the game. These codes can give players unlimited time or boost them to the maximum speed.

Game Genie Codes:

GP Rider Cheat Code FAQ

Does GP Rider have any cheat codes?

No, GP Rider does not have any in-game cheat codes. The game does have codes for both the Game Genie and the Action Replay. These codes can grant infinite time to players, boost them to the maximum speed, or let them automatically win races.

What is an Action Replay?

A Pro Action Replay is a cheat device allowing players to input different cheats and passwords for multiple consoles like the SNES, Game Cube, Commodore 64, GameBoy Advanced, and so much more. They manipulate the memory of the game code itself to allow cheats like infinite health, more powerful weapons, and even saving the game when it is not intended to have a save mechanic.

What is a Game Genie?

A Game Genie is another cheat device, similar to the Action Replay. They are available for retro platforms like the NES, SNES, Game Gear, Master System, and more.
