Horizon Zero Dawn Update Adds New Difficulty Option

Horizon Zero Dawn Update Adds New Difficulty Option

Horizon: Zero Dawn was updated today, bringing the game up to version 1.30 and adding a slew of new goodies and features to the game. This comes ahead of the upcoming DLC expansion, The Frozen Wilds , which was announced at E3 2017. But the new features are sure to get people playing ahead of that add-on.

The Horizon: Zero Dawn patch primarily fixes some bugs, but also introduces the long-desired New Game+. With this mode, players will be able to start a new game without losing their progression and inventory. Guerilla still says the level 50 cap is in place, but players will still be able to earn experience. Many weapons have been updated and given additional slots for further customization, but you will need to buy the new versions of these pieces of equipment. A New Game+ file will also have two new trophies to earn.

Guerilla has also added a new Ultra Hard difficulty mode. This mode makes machine enemies tougher and limits player health regeneration. Both are designed to make it more difficult to survive. Selecting Ultra Hard also locks the difficulty, making changing to something less challenging mid-game impossible. Finally, the update also gives new facepaint options for Aloy and lets players change her focus.
