Humble Indie Bundle 8 Is Live

Humble Indie Bundle 8 Is Live

Ah, the Humble Bundle, perennial purveyor of all things indie. Its latest outing is a particularly compelling and, one might argue, mature venture. The base games include the shape-based, puzzle-platformer Thomas Was Alone , 2D exploration-platformer Capsized , the 2D MOBA Awesomnauts (complete with an exclusive chicken skin), self-described sandbox puzzler Little Inferno , and the atmospheric and unique Dear Esther .

Those who beat the average, though, will also receive Proteus , which features exploration of randomly generated landscapes with tremendous audio-visual panache, and Hotline Miami , which is something of a mix between a top-down shooter and a puzzle game, all couched in hyper-violent and psychedelic 1980s kitsch.

Many of the games in the eighth “official” Humble Bundle are intriguing not only because of what they offer in terms of gameplay, but because they are designed to evoke an emotional or visceral response. Few games are as casually violent as Hotline Miami, and Dear Esther is a title that is literally all about its journey.

Soundtracks, in both MP3 and FLAC formats, are included for most of the games in the bundle.
