Leaked Sony Email Reveals Intent To Buy Super Smash Bros. Film Rights

Leaked Sony Email Reveals Intent To Buy Super Smash Bros. Film Rights

Last Friday, Arstechnica released a rather intriguing story stating that a leaked Sony email suggests that the company had intended to buy the film rights to make a Super Smash Bros. movie. The story also suggested that Sony had talks with Nintendo about their Amiibo line and Shigeru Miyamoto was spotted in a photo with Avi Arad.

This email is the latest bit of news to come out of the massive Sony Pictures leaks that took place late last year. Marvel’s discussion with Sony regarding buying back the rights to the Spider-Man franchise was another famous leak that is now a reality.

Nintendo has had a massive amount of success with its Amiibo lineup so far and for that reason it seems unlikely that they would be willing to do a deal with Sony over a Super Smash Bros. movie. However, anything can and usually does happen in this industry and it will be interesting to see if this possibility ever happens.

Would any of you pay to see a Smash Bros. film on the big screen? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
