Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer Details Surface

BioWare is set to debut new gameplay footage for Mass Effect: Andromeda in just a few days at The Game Awards 2016. In the meantime, we’ve heard a little more about what to expect from the game’s multiplayer mode. It is going to be cooperative again, but some changes to the formula mean it won’t tie in as deeply to the single-player campaign.

In multiplayer, you’ll be able to earn a currency called “mission funds.” These can be used in both the multiplayer and single-player modes, though we don’t yet know exactly what purpose they serve. You’ll have the option of sending out teams to complete side missions in the single-player campaign to earn this currency or undertake the missions yourself in multiplayer. It’s an interesting approach to making sure all players can access these rewards without being forced to participate in online play.

BioWare has also said that gameplay is set to be more dynamic this time around. Movement is reportedly faster-paced, more responsive, and is further enhanced by mobility tools like the jetpack. We’ll probably find out more when the latest gameplay footage surfaces this Thursday, December 1. Mass Effect: Andromeda is tentatively scheduled to launch (like a spaceship!) early next year.
