Microsoft Apologizes For Uploading Misleading Witcher 3 Footage

Earlier this week, Gamespot reported on a story centered around Microsoft apologizing for using PC footage from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on their Xbox YouTube channel. According to Kotaku , the previously released gameplay footage ran at 1080p and 60 fps when in actuality CD Projekt RED already confirmed that the Xbox One version of the game maxes out at 900p and 30 fps.

Shortly after this news broke , Microsoft updated the video description on their YouTube page and stated that the footage was taken directly from the PC version of the game. A Microsoft rep also reached out to Gamespot and apologized for any and all confusion that might have come from the misrepresented video.

While I applaud Microsoft’s efforts for owning up to this mistake, I still am puzzled as to why they wouldn’t replace this footage with gameplay from the Xbox One version of the game. Wild Hunt is supposed to look phenomenal across all platforms and if this fact is indeed true, we deserve to see how it will look on the Xbox One. Perhaps we will get to see more of this soon, but for now this definitely will raise questions about how the game performs and looks on the console.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches worldwide on May 19 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Which version of the game are you planning on getting? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
