Minecraft “Exploration” Update Adds Mobs, Maps, and Llamas

Minecraft “Exploration” Update Adds Mobs, Maps, and Llamas

The Exploration Update for Minecraft has gone live, and it’s available to download right now. Via Mojang’s site : “Seven years and counting, Minecraft is still growing and expanding. We thought it is about time we add something to guide you through the vastness of the endless overworlds. Introducing the Exploration Update!” That guidance comes in the form of maps which will lead you to “adventurous” locations like the Ocean Monument and Woodland Mansion. You’ll obtain those maps from the a Cartographer, who can now be found residing in your village library. You’ll be paying him in emeralds, of course.

As you explore the Woodland Mansion you’ll run into the “Illagers,” spooky and cranky outcasts who won’t take lightly to your intrusion. The update also introduces the Shulker Box, an inventory-expanding chest that will hold your items inside even if the box is knocked down. “This behavior is something that contraption tinkerers should find useful as well, as it enables large amounts of items to be transported in a predictable manner.”

The real reason you’ll want to download the Exploration Update, though, is llamas. Llamas can now be found in the mountains, and you can strap them with chests to help carry items for you. “Well-mannered as they are, they will also politely form caravans whenever you lead one in your travels.” That is adorable and badass. You can find a full list of changes and additions on Mojang’s site.
